genre/ˈʒɑːnrə/ n. 类型；风格

同义词是 style，但是更加正式，常用来表示文学、艺术、电影或音乐的体裁，类型。

Emily loves reading and isn't picky; she'll read a book in any genre imaginable. 

艾米丽喜欢阅读，而且不挑剔; 她会读任何你能想象到的类型的书。

These films often fall into genres like horror.

这些电影通常属于恐怖电影。

contestant  /kənˈtestənt/ n. 参赛者；竞赛者

作名词，a contest /ˈkɑːntest/ 指的是一个竞争类型的比赛，但一般不指体育上的竞赛,而是其他类的 ,比如a singing contest 唱歌比赛， a speech contest  演讲比赛；而比赛的选手就叫做 contestant. 

Contestants for the game show go through a tough selection process.

这个游戏节目的参赛者要经过一个艰难的选拔过程。

Each contestant has to answer questions on a variety of subjects.

每位参赛者必须回答各种各样的问题。

Stranded and ready to mingle, flirty singles search for love on a deserted island they can only escape as couples for romantic date nights in paradise.

stranded /ˈstrændɪd/ adj. 被滞留的

在这个语境里面指的就是  to be prevented from leaving a place,  意思是滞留的含义。

The food delivery man has been stranded by a storm.

外卖小哥被暴风雨给困住了。

The stranded tourists finally got the chance to go home. 

受困的游客终于有机会回家了。

mingle /ˈmɪŋɡl/ v. 交往，交际

They have nothing else to do except to mingle.

除了与其他人交际，他们无事可做。

If you'll excuse me, I must go and mingle (= talk to other guests) .

对不起，我得去和其他客人聊聊。
