transplant /ˈtrænsplænt/ v. n. 移植

trans- 是一个常见的前缀，表示 into another place or state，去另一个地方，或者进入另一种状态；plant 做动词可以表示移植，种植，所以 transplant 就可以指手术中的移植，可以做动词也可以做名词，比如心脏移植是 heart transplant，移植手术是 transplant operation.

In a medical first, a pig heart was transplanted into a human and the patient from the US is doing well so far.

organ /ˈɔːrɡən/ n. 器官

例句中出现的词组 donor organ shortage 指的是捐赠器官的短缺。short 大家知道是短的意思，其实 be short of 还可以表示不足，短缺，shortage 就是名词，表示短缺。

terminal /ˈtɜːrmɪnəl/ adj. 晚期的

这个单词做名词，可以指机场的航站楼；做形容词，指的是晚期的，病危的，比如晚期肺癌，terminal lung cancer；晚期的病人 a terminal patient.
